The selection margin is displayed to the left of the editable area in the Code Editor providing an easy way to highlight complete lines and view the modified state of each line. Unlike the other options described in this section, the visible state of the Selection Margin is a Programmer Studio option and cannot be specified on a file or file type basis.
The selection margin can be used to highlight a complete line of text by simply clicking in the margin using the left mouse button. To select multiple lines, click in the selection margin and drag the mouse pointer up or down while keeping the left mouse button pressed down. Release the left mouse button to finish the selection.
The selection margin can also display the modified state of each line in the current document using an icon to represent when an existing line has been modified or a new line inserted.
